38. Classification of the shapes of all 3-notes and 3-strings or 4 strings major and minor chords with root on any string of the guitar.

This classification especially of the major and minor 3-string , triads is one of the first thing to learn in the guitar before  learning the standard open or barre major and minor chords , and before learning about the DAE and CAGED systems. Nevertheless when restring to the higher 4 strings all the above 3-string or 4-string shapes are only the D, A, E shapes.

Starting we must find the 3-string triads. The next video has only the consecutive 3-strings triads. There are 6 such shapes  according to on  which string is the root, for each of the 3 cyclic permutations of the triad chord. In other words 6 for the root position (1-3-5 ), 6 for the 1st inversion (3-5-1) and 6 for the 2nd inversion (5-1-3) .But there are also the non-consecutive strings triads.

Besides finding and familiarizing with the major and minor triads as chords there is also the exercise of chord comping, starting with triad at random in root position 1-3-5, keep the notes in the 3-5 and create the 3-5-1 inversion, then similarly the 2nd inversion 5-1-3, and back in the root position 1-3-5, but this  time   3 strings higher. Walk randomly the guitar fret-board with triad chords  comping and you may add improvising with melodic notes with the 4th finger.
